Clean Up Australia Day 2017 – Saturday 4th March 2017

Clean Up Australia Day 2017
Saturday 4th March 2017

Our trip for clean up Australia day  was very disappointing  as  the only people to participate were Greg and  Grace. I spent at least  4 or 5 hours of my time organising, for what reason, particularly when  we got no support. TRAX should hang its head in shame,  although we managed to collect 5 bags of rubbish  and 6 of bags  recyclable items, this was despite the rain on the day,  which  really was not that bad . One thing we did notice, a lot of tracks have had gates put in to stop  people gaining access to dump their rubbish. We also had an “authorised vehicle sign” at the start of one of the intended tracks to clean which was only to be used by fire fighters  so that had us looking at other tracks  but all in all it was  a satisfying trip.

Although the weather was just a bit wet it did not stop Greg and Grace from venturing out and collecting bags of rubbish. It was such a shame not to see more TRAX members attending the day. After all, TRAX is always spruiking how we look after the bush by picking up rubbish when on TRAX trips. Makes me wonder why such a poor response to this important day . On a brighter note, the high tea I had arranged for all participants as a thank you for helping clean up on the day I just had to eat it all myself!
