October 2011
Grassy Mountain is east of Kandos and is accessed through private property.
At the invitation of the propery owner, Michael, the TRAX fellowship spent the weekend in his beautiful valley: 4WDing, eating roast lamb and vegetables, track clearing and admiring the view.
Each vehicle made a donation of $35 to the Olinda Rural Fire Service. Three vehicles arrived Friday night, with the remaining three arriving on Saturday morning.
This is Dog Trap Hut which Michael kindly let us use. We started the installation of a water tank and prepared a pit toilet. |
Is this a gypsy camp or TRAX fellowship? |
The track in is pretty rough, and not suitable for larger caravans. |
In 15km we cleared about 15 large trees that each would have halted a fire tanker. |
That fire trail certainly needed our efforts. |
That tree had been there a long time. |
We couldn’t have done it without you, Will. |
No trip is a real success without a bogging. In this case, we had two!
Notice how deceptively the grass covers that black mud. |
The official stuff:
6 Vehicles with all these people: Laurie; Neil; Terry and Judith; Matt, Alison, Jess and Will; Philip F; Greg, Grace, Lauren, Steven and Lisa.
