TRAX Trip – Spanish Steps

An exciting day’s 4WD’ing. Refers to the succession of sandstone benches on Fire Trail No. 5, which joins the Blackfellows Hand Trail to Sunnyside Ridge Road. The Wolgan River is crossed at the lowest point on the trail. The Spanish Steps are located on the northern side about 100m after crossing the Wolgan River. Named after the Spanish Steps of Piazza di Spagna in Rome, Italy. It is a descriptive name of the sandstone rock layered step formation.

This is a Class B trip and requires 2 inch lift, body protection or no side steps – they will be taken out….

We are tackling an infamous track near Lithgow and the Zig Zag, the Spanish Steps. With big rock steps, careful line choice, articulation and good approach and departure angles will be necessary to get us through the day.

This will be a challenging trip but a chance to put into practice all you have learned at the training course in Meroo. Call this the extensive immersion practical. Live axle vehicles will handle this track well with good lines, IFS vehicle will need traction control and good throttle technique, but either way there will be a need for track building and full recovery gear.

This is a very difficult trip, we will definitely be using our recovery gear.

See you on the tracks
