NSW South Coast – Tomakin.
27th May to 3rd June 2016.

The inaugural TRAX Accommodated Trip was somewhat different to other accommodated 4WD trips that I’ve been part of but what a varied, eventful, interesting, informative, educational and sociable week it was. A total of twenty three people attended, fifteen for the whole week and eight who came and went as circumstances and other commitments permitted.
The week started with people arriving after 4pm unloading, looking around and settling into their allocated unit at The Moorings Resort. After dinner, Judith called a meeting, hosted by Sue & Dieter, to discuss plans and activities, all of which were optional depending on weather, inclination, stamina and just a general desire for a relaxing, enjoyable week. Activities included retail therapy, 4WD trips to Bendethra, Braidwood and Tuross Cascades, kayaking, beach walks, visits to museums, weekly markets, coffee and craft shops, church service, picnic lunches and BBQ’s etc. If you desire to know more about any of the foregoing activities, there may be a more extensive report in a future Traxion Magazine &/or a DVD ……….. time permitting.
Some of the memorable activities for me were
• Assisting four young girls at Bendethra with a Suzuki that had no brakes.
• Navigating new tracks in Monga NP
• Kayaking with Allan (a local Land Rover enthusiast) and inspecting his collection of homemade timber kayaks.
• Discovering a new camping/4WD area and meeting and chatting to Nardoo Murra, an indigenous tribal land holder who has extended an invitation to camp on his land.
Altogether, an enjoyable, relaxing week among friends, both old and new. Thanks to Judith and Terry for organising and if a follow up trip comes to fruition, I’d advise that you book early for the excellent, well positioned but limited (in number) accommodation.
